I am excited to be running for Ogden City Council to represent Municipal Ward 1. I have lived in Ogden for 12 years; I am married and have two children, Olivia (15) and Luca (9). I completed my Masters Degree in English at Weber State University and currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Utah. In my day job, I am deeply committed to ensuring all children have equitable access to quality educational opportunities, so they are able to pursue the career and life of their dreams.

The community we live in is unique because there is the possibility for each individual to participate to improve it by working together. We are not such a big city that the individual people get lost, but we are a vibrant city filled with diverse people who care enough to invest their time and money to build on the city’s historical foundation toward the best life experiences for us all.

I hope you will join me in this effort.  I appreciate your support.

Issues

Community

I want all families and residents to enjoy a safe, stable, and thriving community to live in. Municipal Ward 1 has many more assets than people realize. The historic buildings along with proximity to downtown create opportunities more recently developed communities do not have. We have affordable housing options for people to call home. All residents should feel their voice will be heard when issues important to them are put in front of the city council. Creating a sense of community involves more than the words; it involves open communication, respect for alternate views, and a welcoming space for all.

equality

At the local level, we should be doing all we can to ensure our residents are treated respectfully and supported in their efforts to create a better life for themselves and their families. All residents have the right to live their lives without concern or worry about how they might be treated because of their uniqueness in lifestyle, race, ethnicity, income level, or gender. These worries can stem from national debate, regional news, or local policies and practices.

accessibility

I will fight to be sure all residents’ voices  are heard. I will work to help support access to basic needs such as stable housing, food, and safety, as well as to information and opportunities.
