Public safety personnel, including police officers, firefighters, and EMTs, join these professions to make a positive impact in our communities. However, the systems they operate within can sometimes perpetuate division and inequitable treatment, particularly for underrepresented or marginalized groups. These systemic issues need to be examined and reformed to ensure fairness for all. It's important to recognize that some local efforts are already making strides, even if they aren't labeled as "reform." For instance, the Ogden Police Department created a homeless advocate role and established a department that provides trauma-informed outreach to those living unsheltered in Ogden. This initiative focuses on building trust and relationships and helping individuals navigate the system to find housing—a process that takes time and care. I want our police officers to feel safe, supported, and like we all want them to thrive.

Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser

Join us for our campaign kickoff on Wednesday, February 28th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Eccles Art Center (2580 Jefferson Ave, Ogden, UT 84401)!

I respectfully reserve the right not to bear arms. As a teacher of elementary-aged children I have been contemplating my role in their lives and my place in our society in light of the recent horrors that have caused some to begin training to carry arms into their classrooms.

In her day job, Angela analyzes, researches, and develops initiatives to tackle the complex challenges facing our community. Her experience on the Board of Health for Weber and Morgan counties has given her a deep understanding of the public health issues that affect families. She believes that the key to improving community health lies in addressing root causes, rather than waiting to respond to costly and harmful outcomes. Throughout her career, Angela has worked to reduce disparities in education and healthcare—disparities that often stem from where a person is born, lives, works, and plays. While these challenges are deeply rooted, Angela is committed to reshaping the future by ensuring that every aspect of a community supports its residents' ability to thrive.

In her day job, Angela works to analyze, research, and create initiatives to address complex issues in our community.

Community Health

Having a fulfilling, well-paying job close to home allows you to spend more time doing what you love and being with your loved ones—this should be our ultimate goal. The people of Weber County deserve access to opportunities that enable them to thrive. We can implement state and local incentives to bring these opportunities closer to home, but we must ensure we're measuring their long-term impact. Too often, we offer incentives only to lose the jobs five years later. What does that do for our families in the long run? Is it truly worth the investment? Additionally, we must consider how we're supporting the smaller businesses that have invested in our communities over time without those incentives. We must listen to these stakeholders and find meaningful ways to support them.

Environmental protection is a priority and should go hand in hand with expanding opportunities for everyone. Angela will ensure that efforts to create a cleaner, safer environment are intentional, with a focus on improving the quality of life in House District 9. She will implement practical solutions such as community education programs that empower residents to protect their environment while also expanding access to economic opportunities. Angela will collaborate with experts and will support policies that balance environmental protection with sustainable growth. By prioritizing the unique needs of the entire district, Angela aims to create a balanced approach where everyone benefits.

That’s part of the reason I decided to run for the Utah House of Representatives. We need more leaders who understand how these political decisions affect the very real lives of people each and every day. Access to health care should not be a political issue, and it should not be up for debate.

Growth is inevitable, but we must ensure it happens intentionally, with quality of life as our priority. Everyone should earn a livable wage that allows them to afford a quality place to live. We need to support policies and innovative approaches to growth that prioritize community well-being, not just economic expansion. While attracting resources like grocery stores requires a certain population level and market appeal, we can meet that challenge by fostering thoughtful, balanced growth that benefits everyone.

When I joined the Ogden City Council, I participated in the Citizen Police Academy hosted by the Ogden Police Department and numerous other entities across the county, where I learned the complexities of maintaining our safety. Our public safety teams handle dispatch, patrol, community policing, fire, emergency medical services and more. They don’t do their jobs for the money but because they care about our community."

After the costs have been identified and the program is approved, we believe joining will be the single most impactful and affordable step our communities can take to leave a better environment for future generations. All we ask is that community leaders allow the process to play out and the facts to be known before closing the door on this once-in-a-lifetime clean energy opportunity.
