Having a fulfilling, well-paying job close to home allows you to spend more time doing what you love and being with your loved ones—this should be our ultimate goal. The people of Weber County deserve access to opportunities that enable them to thrive. We can implement state and local incentives to bring these opportunities closer to home, but we must ensure we're measuring their long-term impact. Too often, we offer incentives only to lose the jobs five years later. What does that do for our families in the long run? Is it truly worth the investment? Additionally, we must consider how we're supporting the smaller businesses that have invested in our communities over time without those incentives. We must listen to these stakeholders and find meaningful ways to support them.
